WWF-UK has been given an exhibition space at Wayne Hemingway’s Vintage Festival taking place on London’s South Bank between 29-31 July 2011. The aim of WWF’s involvement is to engage visitors to Vintage in the work of WWF and invite them to help in creating an artwork that will form Wayne Hemingway’s contribution to WWF’s Pandamonium 2 (to take place during 2012). The final concept of the artwork is still to be finalised with Wayne Hemingway but it will involve visitors writing or drawing pledges of support for, or personal memories inspired by, the natural world on cloth.

We’re looking for an intern to help provide support on the project management and delivery of this event and help drive a successful exhibition.

Location: Godalming, Surrey
Start date: early June 2011
Expected finish date: 5 August 2011
Hours: 35 per week over 5 days

This is an unpaid position although reasonable lunch and travel expenses may be reimbursed.

Involvement will include:

• sourcing materials and contributions for the artwork and exhibition space;
• helping drive advance interest in the project and pledges via WWF’s website and Facebook page delivering 10,000 visitor contacts;
• seeking opportunities to link with the Vintage Festival’s existing media and promotional plans and other third-party opportunities;
• assistance in recruiting, inspiring and supporting student volunteers who will help staff the event; and
• helping with the set up and take down of the exhibition space.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with an exciting initiative for an international conservation organisation at a high profile public event. 
Working within the Design Management & Editorial team and closely with WWF-UK’s wider communications team you will be expected to adapt as the needs of the project change. You will be responsible for providing project support which may include crucial administration, assisting with involvement in publicity, social media and marketing activities.

It is essential that you have the ability to work to tight deadlines and have a flexible approach to problem solving possess plus excellent communication skills. Previous project management or exhibition experience would be advantageous. Familiarity with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel & Word) will ensure that you hit the ground running and an understanding of social media opportunities would be an advantage. Empathy towards environmental issues and the work of WWF is desirable as is an interest in, or knowledge of, the textile or fashion industry.

Although a holiday allowance is given it is essential that you are available to work the week beginning 25 July and the weekend of 30-31 July.
