The FFI Asia Pacific Programme has offices in Hanoi, Jakarta, Phnom Penh, Manila and Nanning and implements a broad range of species and landscape targeted conservation initiatives in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam. A team of approximately 250 staff, consultants, volunteers and partner organisations work together to implement the programme with funding from a range of sources totalling approximately US$8.8 million per annum.

The FFI Vietnam Programme with its headquarters in Hanoi, has project offices in Quang Binh, Thanh Hoa, Trung Khanh Cao Bang and Quang Ninh, currently supervises conservation interventions in 20 provinces, focusing on four ecosystem conservation programmes: Northern Annamite Mountains, Hoang Lien Mountains, Cuc Phuong - Pu Luong Limestone Range, Cat Ba/ Ha Long Bay Coastal Zone; and two species conservation programmes: Primates and Endangered Plants. A team of approximately 30 staff, consultants, volunteers and partners currently implements the Country Programme. FFI Vietnam programme currently manages an annual budget of approximately US$1.4 million.

FFI is now seeking a Vietnam Country Programme Director, whose role it will be ensure the optimal quality, impact and timeliness of FFI conservation initiatives in Vietnam. This entails taking overall responsibility for the Vietnam programme and the team of national and international staff and volunteers implementing it. The Vietnam Country Programme Director will be directly responsible for supporting project managers in project development and for leading country level programme development and preparation of project proposals. This will require the development and maintenance of relationships with potential donors and partners in Vietnam.

Linking with FFI’s developing programmes in REDD and PES will be important as will developing relations with the private sector. Project managers will report directly to the Vietnam Country Programme Director who will be responsible for mentoring them and ensuring their career development. The Vietnam Country Programme Director will also be responsible for ensuring FFI’s policies are reflected in the Vietnam Country programme and for their linkage to FFI conservation initiatives in the Asia Pacific region.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to biodiversity conservation, have excellent management skills, the ability to develop relationships with a wide range of partners and donors and the strategic vision to take the Vietnam Programme forward.
