My client is a leading solar power plant developer, providing clean energy to utilities and large energy users. They build, develop, finance and operate large scale power plants and have a strong market presence across the US.
Position Overview: The VP of Project Finance will entirely focus on utility-scale projects and will be responsible for originating, negotiating, structuring and executing utility-scale photovoltaic project finance transactions in North America.
Responsibilities:-
- · Origination of financial and corporate equity sponsors for utility-scale solar PV power plants
- · Identifying financing banks, preparing information memorandum, negotiation with banks & equity investors
- · Form and manage new utility and developer relationships
- · Develop and manage relationships with utilities, developers, and external services providers
- · Conduct of sale negotiations in predetermined desired value and tender preparations
- · Develop relationships with IPP's, EPC's, large developers and other channel partners to finance and build out projects
- · Identify project opportunities with utilities
- · Manage all aspects of project development, including site acquisition, interconnection studies, permitting, tax abatement, and structuring finance
- · Structuring and negotiation of project finance loan documentation and share purchase agreements
- · Overseeing the work of the project team for the finalization of key project contracts to achieve financial close
- · Oversee the whole project cycle from origination to execution of solar PV power plant project financing
- · Responsible for financial advisory, negotiation of finance and project documentation
- · Equity raising and project sale negotiations
- · Negotiation of all the project contracts (EPC, O&M, land lease, etc)
- · Detailed risk analysis for each project
- · Identifying potential buyers of power plants
- Manage internal and external legal staff and advisors in the drafting, negotiation, and execution of term sheets, financing documents, and contracts associated with solar project financings
Education:-
- · Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Math, Physical Science, or Economics is a plus. Master’s Degree or MBA with emphasis in Finance or related studies
Core Requirements:-
- 5 to 10 years of prior transactional experience working within project finance, structured finance, consumer finance, tax equity, lease finance, asset-backed finance, M&A, investment banking, municipal finance, large commercial real estate underwriting, securitization of various asset types, or private equity with significant experience leading the origination, negotiation, and execution of transactions
- Strong knowledge of project finance, including structuring and negotiation of financings
- · Hands-on approach on existing investments
- · International business development and origination
- · Critical assessment and due diligence of investment opportunities
- · Must have repeated success negotiating PPAs with utilities
- · Needs to understand permitting, site acquisition, interconnection, project management, deal negotiation, financial modeling of renewable deals etc.

- · Advanced Excel skills, familiarity with Word and PowerPoint. Prior international and emerging market transactional experience is a plus
- · Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English with additional language skills a plus
- · Project management and complex financial modeling experience
Key Skills:
Renewable energy, strong finance background (Master degree in Finance is preferred), utility-scale solar project financing experience and team leadership experience.
