The mission of the Wild Salmon Center (WSC) is to identify, understand and protect the best wild salmon ecosystems of the Pacific Rim. WSC devises and implements practical strategies, based on the best science, to protect forever these extraordinary places and their biodiversity. WSC is an international organization with a staff of 30 and is based in Portland, Oregon, in the Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center. Position Summary Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice President for Conservation Programs provides overall leadership for Wild Salmon Center's conservation programs, including day-to-day management of the North America program. He or she will devise and execute strategic initiatives and conservation campaigns to influence policy and advance programmatic objectives, with a focus on North America, and will ensure alignment of strategies and operations across all conservation programs. The Vice President for Conservation Programs directly supervises the conservation program directors and the North America program managers, and serves as a member of the Organization's senior management team. In addition, the Vice President for Conservation Programs works with the CEO and Wild Salmon Center Board of Directors to keep them informed of programmatic strategies and challenges. Hours of Work This is a full-time regular position that is exempt from federal Fair Labor Standards Act overtime rules. Compensation WSC offers a competitive salary and excellent fringe benefits package including a retirement fund, medical and dental plan, flexible spending account, life insurance and disability coverage.
