Trout Unlimited (TU) is hiring a Vice President to lead its Development staff.  The person will be responsible for managing direct mail&online fundraising, planned giving, foundation giving, individual giving, and other high dollar donor philanthropy. This position requires a skilled fundraiser, who is also an excellent manager who can help to direct a variety of fund-raising elements within the TU organization. 

The VP Development works closely with the rest of the senior staff, the President and CEO, and the Board of Trustees on helping to fund all of the core priorities of the TU strategic plan. 
The position will oversee and manage the work of a highly effective and entrepreneurial team including: the membership marketing director; the director of foundation giving; the managing director of the Coldwater Conservation Fund; and the senior development director for western conservation.  One of the most important priorities will be the ability to work with individual donors to communicate the importance of the TU mission, and translate that to support of the TU organization.   

The position will report to the President and CEO and be a part of the senior staff. 

Requirements:

  • At least 8-10 years of fundraising experience with an emphasis on individual giving. 
  • Excellent writing skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills in person, and over the phone. 
  • Detail oriented, and able to manage work-plans, staff, and budget for a vital part of the TU organization.   
  • Comfortable analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and making informed decisions with minimum supervision
  • Interested in becoming part of a team whose mission is to conserve, protect, and restore North America's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.  Fishing experience a strong plus.  Love of conservation and the outdoors a must.
