The Community Development Assistant will provide a broad range of support to Evergreen BC’s community development programs.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and implement Evergreen’s ‘Architects of a Green Legacy’ summer Youth program
• Develop and distribute promotional materials for the ‘Architects’ program and recruit students for the program 
• Build partnerships with other community groups and organizations to further program goals
• Assist in developing and leading education/training workshops for youth in the ‘Architects’ program and guide youth project development.
• Develop project budget and track expenses for the Architects program
• Work with the Community Development Program Manager to further develop project concepts to meet programming goals.
• Support the delivery of other community development and urban ecology programming across the Metro Vancouver area as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong event planning and coordination skills
• Experience with group facilitation, particularly with at-risk and/or multicultural youth groups.
• Experience in program development and coordination an asset
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent presentation skills
• Strong knowledge of sustainability, community development, urban agriculture and youth leadership principles
• Positive, outgoing and not afraid to get your hands dirty!

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ; and,
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Work terms:
This contract runs until September 1st of 2012, for 38 hours per week at $13.50 an hour.
