Vacancy - Designer (AD834)

Informatics | Permanent, full-time, Specialist Officer

Salary depending on skills and expertise

Closing date: 2014-07-13

We are currently seeking a Designer to join our Informatics Programme to work on important web and mobile applications aimed at making sure people can find the easiest route to collecting, visualising and sharing environmental information. Your designs will help canoeing scientists to map corals, governments across the world to unlock vast amounts of their environmental information and the United Nations to keep our planet under review.

Liaising with Scientists and Policy experts, and working closely with the development team, you will be responsible for wireframing web and mobile applications, designing user interfaces that are both attractive and innovative and rapid prototyping using CSS and HTML.

You will be an expert in original visual design with a good relevant degree or equivalent work experience in a computer science and/or environmental discipline and possess an analytical brain with the ability to find simplicity in complex data, science and politics. Proven experience of working with a team of software engineers in a deadline driven environment is also essential.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your technical expertise and teamwork, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and submit it with a CV and a short covering letter through the link below by 13th July 2014.

Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.

WCMC is a UK charity, based in Cambridge, which supports the United Nations Environment Programme. We work in collaboration with UNEP, under the banner of UNEP-WCMC.
