The Urban Birds Conservation Action Plan (UBCAP) Coordinator helps BirdLife Australia achieve its strategic goal of improving conservation outcomes for Australian birds Specifically, the UBCAP Coordinator is responsible for working with the Urban Birds Program Manager to facilitate the implementation of the UBCAP with a focus on the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth regions.

We are looking for an UBCAP coordinator to lead the CAP process through re-invigoration of the UBCAP working groups, continued development and review of the CAP, and the engagement with new opportunities to implement CAP actions informed by an Urban Bird Program Plan.

You will do this by:

  • Shaping and implementing the UBCAP in alignment with BirdLife Australia’s Bird conservation strategy;
  • Collaborating with UBCAP working groups, BirdLife Australia’s branches, special interest groups, reserves and observatories, affiliates, industry, government agencies, NRMs, Indigenous groups, local government and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Supporting the development of the Urban Birds Program Plan and funding strategy;
  • Working with the Communication Department to direct effective media coverage of UBCAP priorities, including representing BirdLife Australia in the media
  • Working with the Strategy Assurance, Science & Partnerships to measure and evaluate the success of coordinated implementation of the CAP program for learning and adaptive management;
  • Working with the Engagement Department to mobilise supporters and volunteers to achieve CAP objectives;

Status and Remuneration

This is a Part-time position 3 days per week (0.6FTE) on a 24 Month contract. This role is flexible on location. Salary up to $41,206 per annum (pro rata of $68,678) plus 10%
superannuation.

  • Have tertiary qualifications in Ecology or another relevant discipline
  • Have at least two years related work experience
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of bird conservation in Australia
  • Have demonstrated experience in managing conservation projects and budgets
  • Have a current full Australian Driver’s License
  • Have valid Australian work rights with permission to work
