Description

Upper Ray Living Landscape Manager

Salary: £26,117

35 hours / week

3 year fixed term contract

Based at Meadow Farm, near Bicester

The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust is a membership-based voluntary organisation, managing over 80 nature reserves, influencing land management and educating and encouraging all sectors of the community to care for local wildlife.

The Upper River Ray, on the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire border, is one of the last remaining strongholds of traditional floodplain meadows in England.  As well as supporting a rich floral community associated with lowland hay meadows, the area also supports a small breeding population of locally scarce wading birds. The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust is now recruiting for a Living Landscape Manager to further develop our work across the project area.

The post-holder will manage the Delivery Phase of Meadow Farm HLF Grant Award, in accordance with the terms of the Award and the Trust’s objectives for the Upper Ray Living Landscape. They will ensure cohesion of conservation, community and wider countryside activities in the Upper Ray Living Landscape through the delivery of the Management Plan and wider Living Landscape objectives including liaison with other landowners and project partners.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience working in nature conservation management, ideally on a landscape-scale.  They should possess demonstrable knowledge of ecological principles and habitat management and assessment for a range of habitat types.  Candidates should have experience of managing staff and excellent project management skills, including monitoring and evaluation.

For full details on how to apply for the post, please visit our website www.bbowt.org.uk, email: jobs@bbowt.org.uk or phone 01865 775476.

CVs will not be accepted. Please note that only successful applicants will be notified. The closing date for applications is noon on Monday 24th February 2014.

Interviews will be held at Meadow Farm on Wednesday 5th March 2014.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
