Based within the Natural Environment Research Council, the UKRI Head of Environmental Sustainability will lead a new team managing the implementation of UKRI’s new Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

You will play a key role in the establishment of the UKRI Centre of Excellence for Sustainability to provide high quality technical expertise and advice to colleagues across UKRI and manage UKRI’s environmental performance reporting.

You will need:

  • Degree level qualification or comparable experience in an environmental science or sustainability field;
  • Strong leadership and change management skills with a demonstrable ability to translate environmental or sustainability strategy into meaningful action;
  • Good problem-solving skills and experience in overcoming common institutional challenges or barriers in environmental sustainability strategy implementation.
  • Strong project management skills and experience, backed by formal training/qualification, in project managing environmental sustainability change projects.
  • Experience as a team leader with proven ability in managing resources including budgets, work priorities and performance.
