£22,056 - £24,052 per annum depending on skills and experience

Based at the Millennium Seed Bank, West Sussex

51 week casual appointment

Kew is the world-leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a major visitor attraction, that shows the importance of plants in all our lives. Kew’s mission is to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life.

Lead by the Millennium Seed Bank, the UK National Tree Seed Project aims to develop a national ex situ collection of UK tree seed collections that is both genetically comprehensive and comprises sufficient seeds to support research and conservation. The collection will facilitate research to better understand and manage the native trees in the UK Landscape. Working at the heart of this project, you will play a key role in building a network of contributers to deliver a Seed Collection Programme and create and manage the necessary database to monitor progress and track pledges.

With a degree in a biological subject, or equivalent, you will have good knowledge of UK tree flora and/or seed conservation and will have confidence in building and managing databases. You will also need to have experience of carrying out fieldwork and will have the excellent organisation and communication skills needed to be able to deliver workshops and work constructively as part of a team.

Benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a choice of pensions, a flexible benefits scheme as well as a great working environment.
