Description

UK Overseas Territories Officer

Reference number: A2801014

Location: Bedfordshire

An exciting opportunity to join the RSPB's UK Overseas Territories team and play a leading role in the conservation of some of the UK's globally important, threatened and remote environments. The role will primarily manage the RSPB's programme of work to save nature in Tristan da Cunha and the Pitcairn Islands, as well as other Overseas Territories. Conservation project management will be a key focus, alongside supporting local Territory partners to build capacity, maintaining excellent community relations, and advocating for environmental policies and support both in-Territory and to UK Government stakeholders (Parliamentarians and civil servants). You must be able to work effectively in major cross-Society programme teams, as well as under minimum supervision at times. Excellent diplomatic, communication and negotiation skills are essential. You will be expected to spend a significant number of nights and weekends overseas each year, the majority of which will be unaccompanied.
