UK Commercial Officer

Introduction

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) works to safeguard the world’s seafood supply by promoting the best environmental choice in seafood through the use of its logo. We celebrate, promote and add value to sustainable fisheries. Through the leadership of our partners, we help create market incentives to encourage other fisheries to improve the way they fish the oceans. Over 300 fisheries around the world, landing 12 % of the annual global harvest, are now engaged at some stage of the MSC’s independent assessment process. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in around 100 countries.

Information on the role

Reporting to the UK Commercial Manager, the Commercial Officer has a core support role within the UK commercial team. Utilising their organisational and communication skills, the post holder contributes to a diverse range of activities to promote the MSC's mission and contribute to the successful working of the Commercial Team.

With support, the post holder will be responsible for the MSC's growing presence in the education sector, including our Fish & Kids project, by providing information and explaining the process of participation to suppliers, caterers and schools interested in the project. The Commercial Officer will provide assistance to various team members specifically in support of the UK foodservice sector, offering an opportunity to become familiar with the wide ranging roles of the commercial team. The Commercial Officer ensures that commercial enquiries from a range of stakeholders are dealt with promptly and consults with/includes the appropriate MSC commercial team member in any communication.
