Description

University Grade 6 (£25,623 - £30,594 pa)

We are seeking two Trainers for a fixed-term of four months from September to December 2009 in the first instance.

The UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP) part of the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford, was established in 1997. The Programme is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), until March 2011.

UKCIP provides climate scenarios and a suite of other tools to assist stakeholders in assessing climate risks. To support the launch of our newest tool, UKCP09 (UK Climate Projections 09), UKCIP is embarking on its largest stakeholder engagement programme "Projections in Practice". This programme will endeavour to engage with new and existing stakeholders and explain both the benefits of UKCP09 and offer practical help in accessing and using the data.

Initially you will need to quickly develop a thorough understanding of UKCIP tools and methodologies, so that you can support stakeholders in taking up the next set of climate scenarios by delivering workshops and classroom training. Your role will also be vital to the development of associated technical guidance for the Projections and identifying further training / learning opportunities.

Experience of planning and conducting presentations is vital and although previous training experience is not necessary, it would be advantageous. You should also be a confident user of PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

So if you have a proven interest and a working understanding of environmental issues and feel that you can communicate, enthuse and engage at all levels we would like to hear from you.

The position will be based in the School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QY, although home working would be considered. This role will involve a great deal of travelling within the UK, for which a vehicle will be provided if necessary, and spending extended periods away from home.

Interviews will be held week commencing 27 July 2009 and we would be looking for individuals to start work around the beginning of September 2009 or earlier.
