Job Role:

The Turbine Engineer will be principally focussed on reviewing appropriate turbine technology for future offshore projects. Before selecting a turbine it is critical to ensure that it meets the performance requirements on the project - power output and grid compliance are key areas - and can operate reliably in the site conditions for the design life. The role will involve visits to the manufacturers to review design, production and test facilities, evaluation of large amounts of data and presenting findings and recommendations to the procurement team and wider business. The candidate will be part of the Group Engineering Team and therefore will also be required to support onshore projects, where there will be opportunities to be involved in failure investigation and review of onshore turbine technology.  

Candidates should have the following qualifications and capabilities:

• Engineering degree in a mechanical or, preferably, electrical discipline
• Ideally have experience working in wind turbine design
• Excellent communication skills enabling effective discussion and transfer of information between manufacturers, clients and team members.
• Be organised and have the ability to manage several projects and high work loads with demanding timescales.
• The ability to work as part of a team, both leading and as a key member, influencing decisions and reacting positively to challenges
• Strong reporting and presentation skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office
• Full UK driving license
• Willingness to travel
• The role will require climbing and working at height and may involve visits to offshore turbines
