Description

At Natural England, we advise the UK Government on the natural environment. We’re here to make sure people and nature can thrive. From advising farmers on sustainable land management, to gathering and analysing environmental data, and promoting health and wellbeing through the great outdoors, we love what we do. Join us and you’ll be part of an inclusive, motivated and ambitious team, committed to achieving results for our environment, for everyone.

As one of our Tree Action Plan Delivery Advisors, you’ll play a critical role in increasing tree planting in England to 10,000ha per year by 2025. Achieving this ambitious target will be largely down to the expert technical advice we provide - which is where you come in. Drawing on your impressive ecological understanding, you’ll advise our partners and land managers, as well as seeking out opportunities for woodland creation.

Working alongside key strategic partners, such as the Forestry Commission, you’ll help to ensure tree establishment delivers the maximum possible benefits, from species recovery and climate resilience to flood risk mitigation and improved water quality. Prioritising major casework will also be a key focus, as will nurturing relationships with the farmers, landowners and other interested parties to make sure everyone’s needs and interests are taken into account.

We’ll add to your grasp of the agri-environment scheme and understanding of the science behind nature recovery with a comprehensive training package to deepen your knowledge and extend your capabilities. This will allow you to rise to this new and exciting challenge and continue your successful track record on supporting a range of stakeholders.

We welcome and encourage applications from all communities and, wherever possible, we accommodate requests for both full and part-time hours and other flexible working patterns. Everyone at Natural England is supported to develop their skills and capabilities. You can also look forward to great benefits including a Civil Service pension.
