Trainee Technician - Environment

To provide general technical and administration assistance and support to Engineers, Scientists and other Technicians within the Environment team. The role is based in the Chester office but will undertake work for Chester, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham offices.

Scope of Job:

The role involves the production and/or modification of drawings, mainly in AutoCAD although the use of 3D modelling software and GIS is currently being developed.  Some site work may be required as the role progresses.  The role will also involve technical document control and recording.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Recording and printing of incoming and outgoing drawings and documents.
  • Electronic filing and recording of drawings and documents using relevant servers and data storage websites.
  • Assist and works under supervision of senior team members for the production/modification of drawings in AutoCAD or other drawing software
  • Comply with management systems and project procedures.
  • Assist and works under supervision of the senior team members during site surveys/visits as directed.
  • Complete assigned tasks and duties within the timescales given.
  • Attend other training courses both internally and externally, as required for the role.

The jobholder will be expected to carry out any other such duties as may reasonably be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Have a minimum of 5 A to C grade GCSE’s including Maths, English and preferably Design Technology/Science.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to interact well with other team members.
  • Ability to work to a deadline and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work with supervision and use initiative appropriately
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
