OST TITLE: Trainee Marine Education Ranger

TRAINING ALLOWENCE: £115.00 per week and final payment of £360 on   completion of the placement

TRAINING BUDGET: £500.00

RESPONSIBLE TO: Project Officer

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week

DURATION OF PLACEMENT: 36 weeks (starting Mid-January)

We are looking for 4 enthusiastic and dedicated trainees aged 18+to assist in the running of the final year of an exciting 3 year project promoting the value of Torbay's unique marine environment, Sea Green! This project is supported by Natural England through Access to Nature as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces Programme. This opportunity combines working with the project officer to deliver an innovative Sea School programme, working with school groups, organising and delivering events and helping to promote the project across Torbay's community. As well as, the placements allowing you to get valuable hands on experience you will also have the opportunity to obtain the Sea School Leader qualification, the first of its kind. The Trainees will be based at the Trust's Seashore Centre which is open to the public and home to a busy marine educational programme at Goodrington Sands in Paignton. Placements will run from January to September 2013 (36 weeks).

Applications are particularly welcome from residents of the following wards: Wellswood, Ellacombe, Tormohun, Watcombe, Roundham with Hyde, Blatchcombe, St Mary’s with Summercombe. Applicants will be subject to a CRB check.

Interviews will be – 11th and 12th December 2012

Visitor Centre Support Volunteer

Are you passionate about the natural environment and keen to share this passion with others, learning new skills and meeting like minded individuals? We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help support the running of our busy Visitor Centres at Occombe Farm, Berry Head National Nature Reserve and at The Seashore Centre. You'll play a key role in engaging visitors with the Trust sites and the work of the Trust and be a friendly face to bring our visitor centres to life. We will offer some training and travel expenses between home and volunteering location will be reimbursed.
