Overview: To coordinate the engagement of volunteers in Fort York programs, events and operations.  Assist in growing the volunteer program at the site.  Evergreen, in partnership with the City of Toronto is developing and implementing a Volunteer Engagement Program at Fort York in 2012, leaving a long-term volunteer engagement program as a bicentennial legacy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide coordination and support for all aspects of the volunteer program at Fort York from recruitment and screening to orientation, scheduling, training, support and recognition;
• Work closely with the Manager, Volunteer Development, Evergreen to grow the volunteer engagement program at Fort York – the goal is to create a long-term volunteer engagement program as a bicentennial legacy, engaging about 200 volunteers
• Act as the first point of contact for inquiries about Fort York volunteers
• Engage and support volunteers at special events at Fort York during this year including key Bicentennial events:
o Encampment month (June 1 – 27)
o Bicentennial launch weekend (June 15-18)
o Canada Day (July 1)
o By Sea, By Land & By Air (Aug. 17 – Sep. 1)
o Nuit Blanche (Sep. 29)
• Ensure that accurate records for volunteers are kept
• Work closely with Fort York staff on volunteer engagement and management

• Supervised by: Manager, Volunteer Development, Evergreen
• Supervises: Volunteers
• Member of the Fort York program team

Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of previous experience in coordinating volunteers; 2 years post-secondary education and/or 3 years of work experience (or some combination thereof);
• Solid people-relations skills;
• Highly organized and self-motivated;
• Strong computer skills;
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.

Working conditions:
• At Fort York with some work outside during events
• Weekends and evenings will be required for events
