Description

BirdLife Australia is seeking a skilled project officer to work on its Threatened Bird Network (TBN) project, which sits within BirdLife Australia’s Research and Conservation Department. The purpose of this role is to encourage community participation in conservation tasks for threatened birds, to liaise with threatened bird projects and volunteers, and to deliver community engagement and education activities for threatened birds.

Responsibilities include:

  • Encouraging community participation in conservation tasks for threatened birds through the promotion of volunteer activities (through the TBN online newsletter, social media and other relevant forums)
  • Organisation and delivery of community workshops for volunteer training, community events and talks  
  • Development of displays, slides and related promotional materials, and education materials and resource kits  
  • Training, support and supervision of volunteer office assistants/skilled volunteers
  • Writing funding applications for TBN projects
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of threatened bird recovery projects managed by TBN

Location: Birdlife Australia National Office, Melbourne.

Status: This is a part-time (1.5 days a week) position offered on a 3-year contract. A continuation to the contract after three years would be offered subject to performance and available funding.
