The position:

We are seeking a Thermal Engineer to mainly work in the areas of mine methane mitigation, CO2 capture and mine waste utilization. Primarily the engineer will work on the development of novel VAM mitigation and VAM capture technologies, and expand his/her research in CO2 capture, etc. The research aims to reduce greenhouse gas emission and minimize environmental impact. The work will involve use of a combination of disciplines, including combustion, heat transfer, reaction, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.

Location:  Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies, Pullenvale, Brisbane

Salary:     $86K - $93K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

The requirements of the successful candidate will include:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Thermal Engineering, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in combustion, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and thermal dynamics;
  • Engineering skills in designing and setting up laboratory scale rigs and small pilot-scale units including combustor, heat exchanger, furnace;
  • Well developed written and oral communication skills.
