Are you an ecologist or natural environment professional who loves working with data? Would you like to lead the team of ecologists and information specialists who run Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre (TVERC)

About us

TVERC collects, analyses and shares biodiversity and geodiversity information in Berkshire and Oxfordshire in order to help people make sound decisions about how to develop and manage land sustainably, where to direct wildlife conservation work and for scientific education and research. About you

We are looking to appoint a new Director with an entrepreneurial and business mindset who can demonstrate success in in running a dynamic, data-focused organisation.

You must have strong financial and people management skills; experience of working with partners and customers from the public, private and academic sectors and understand how to generate and maintain the support of volunteers and the wider conservation sector.

You will have the ability to plan and deliver projects; to provide a lead for TVERC staff and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to identify and respond effectively to new opportunities to use data in the natural environment sector. You will also have a good knowledge of GIS and IT systems.

Experience of having worked in a local authority context will be an advantage as TVERC is currently hosted by Oxfordshire County Council. The Director reports to a Steering Group including local authority, statutory agency and private sector representatives.

Initial interviews are likely to be held by video conference on 28th August. A second interview may be scheduled online or in person (if health regulations permit) if required. Interviews are expected to last for approximately one hour. The interview panel will reflect TVERC’s diverse stakeholder partners.
