Thames River Watch Training Provider
Contract type: This is a self-employed post. There will be a minimum of 40 days, from May 2015 until the end of August 2015. After this period, there is potential for further work. Salary: £120 per day
Thames21 is the voice for London’s waterways, working with communities to improve rivers and canals for people and wildlife. Engaging with people and educating them on environmental problems and solutions is vital for sustainable environmental improvement; it provides an opportunity to change attitudes and encourage positive behaviour. Thames21 aims to develop lasting connections between local communities and their waterways through education and the training of community members.
This dynamic and rapidly developing charity is looking for a Training and Education Provider to support the development and delivery of 20 outreach sessions as part of the Thames River Watch project which launched in February 2014. This role will work with the Thames River Watch Project Co-ordinator and the Training Officer and will ensure that training outcomes are aligned with those already being delivered within the organisation. We are looking for people who can deliver key environmental messages through practical events with an approach that is accessible, engaging, and motivational.
Applicants should have:
Main duties and responsibilities The post holder will deliver training sessions required by Thames River Watch volunteers including individuals, community groups and company staff. Sessions will be both indoor at training venues and outdoor on the foreshore of the river Thames.
The post holder will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of foreshore clean-ups with community groups and ensuring litter monitoring as part of those clean-ups. They will produce risk assessments, event plans and organise logistics, including casual support staff where required, with support from the Thames River Watch Project Co-ordinator.
