The role
 
You'll:
 
• establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers to ensure good quality outcomes are achieved within demanding timeframes;

• develop a view of the risks of product failure on a project and manage teams and individuals to implement test approaches to mitigate this risk;

• communicate with /coach business customers, project managers and suppliers to ensure appropriate coverage of risks and to ensure compliance to IT standards;

• demonstrate knowledge and experience of risk based testing approaches in your previous roles;

• manage a team of individuals with mixed abilities and technical knowledge to successful delivery.

The team

We use IT to achieve our outcomes from reducing the impact of climate change to being the best we can, our IT is our partner and we look to maximise every pound we spend on IT.

Our annual investment in changing our work through IT is over £25million and we need to ensure this is money well spent. 

We are a maturing IT organisation with a need to provide a responsive, agile service to our diverse customer groups within the different environmental directorates.
 
Following a review of our workloads we require a Grade 5 Test Manager, passionate about delivering value for money, who has good understanding and experience of test management IT projects and a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing processes.

Experience/skills required
 
You'll have:

• practical test management experience on an Environment Agency IT Project or demonstrable experience of test management in your current or previous role, including being responsible for your testing budget;

• practical, hands on experience of project management disciplines, such as planning, work breakdown structures, risk management, issue, assumption and dependency management;

• been shown to be a confident self starter with strong communication, stakeholder engagement , facilitation and influencing skills, an eye for detail, pragmatic and able to work with EA staff at all levels;

• experience of managing or working directly with 3rd Party software suppliers (desirable);

• demonstrated strong written communication and a desire to produce quality documentation as part of a successful project outcome;

• the ability to respond positively to feedback and to work hard for the collective good of the team within which you work.

Additional useful information
 
The role is based in Warrington but we’ll consider other locations in the Bristol or Bridgwater areas for the right individual

Travelling to meet with customer, partners and suppliers is envisaged to be infrequent (once per month on average) but this will vary from project to project.
