The Campus Ecology program of the National Wildlife Federation promotes climate leadership and sustainability among colleges and universities by providing resources and technical support, creating networking opportunities and organizing educational events. Campus Ecology is a partner organization of the Energy Action Coalition (EAC). EAC is a coalition of 50 youth-led environmental and social justice groups working together to build the youth clean energy and climate movement.

We seek a Temporary Student Climate and Energy Organizer to work 15 hours per week primarily assisting the Campus Ecology Field Staff with running two major EAC initiatives: the Power Vote Campaign and Power Shift 2011. The Power Vote Campaign is a non-partisan campaign to bring clean energy, climate change and environmental justice to the forefront of the upcoming midterm elections. Power Shift 2011 will be a major national youth environmental leadership conference. The Student Climate and Energy Organizer will work with the Campus Field Coordinator to coordinate logistics and events for both campaigns. They will also work with students throughout their respective regions to connect Power Vote and Power Shift to local issues that will strengthen their campus environmental organizations.

The main goal of this position is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the campaigns and to increase the number of students who are actively engaged in taking action around climate leadership. The organizer will be responsible for providing regular reports to the Campus Ecology field team regarding the success, challenges and victories related to the campaign. They will be required to report through the national reporting system used for the Power Vote and Power Shift through the EAC. They will also work with students to ensure they are reporting their campaign efforts consistently and accurately.
