South Derbyshire District Council have been awarded funds to deliver a recycling and waste minimisation awareness campaign in the District. The project is designed to collect data on and promote recycling with members of the public and local business on their doorsteps. Doorstepping is increasingly recognised as an effective means for local authorities to promote recycling and increase participation rates in kerbside collection and other schemes. Through the personal approach of direct, face-to-face contact with residents and businesses it is possible to dispel the myths about recycling, helping local authorities to communicate positive messages in an innovative way.
