BACKGROUND
IUCN Bangladesh is implementing “Organizing Resource Generation and Nutritional Support (ORGANS)” project in joint venture with CARE Bangladesh. Floating gardening and winter gardening techniques as well as nutritional awareness among beneficiaries will be demonstrated in 100 villages in Sunamganj, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sirajganj, Pabna, Rangpur and Kurigram districts under this project. The project will be implemented from March 2012 to August 2014.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position will be based at Sirajganj project office of IUCN for working in Sirajganj, Pabna, Rangpur and Kurigram districts in Bangladesh. Responsibilities will be as under:
• Motivating community people, VDCs and representatives of local government for floating gardening and winter gardening;
• Assist in site and beneficiary selection, and project related surveys;
• Providing agriculture input support to the beneficiaries;
• Providing training for floating gardening and associated winter gardening;
• Conducting meetings, discussions; training events, cross-visits etc. with and for the beneficiaries, Village Development Committees (VDCs), government service providers, and CARE and partner NGO (PNGO) staff;
• Assist in preparing activity reports and project documents;
• Maintaining liaison with the relevant PNGOs and CARE staffs relevant to the project;
• Monitoring project progress;
• Assist in developing monitoring tools and data entry;
• Performing any other activity assigned by the line manager and CR of IUCN Bangladesh;
REQUIREMENTS
  • The successful candidate should have;
• At least a graduate degree preferably in agriculture, natural science or relevant discipline;


• • Motivated to work at the community level;

• • Willing to extensive travelling in rural areas;

• • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), internet, email, etc.
