Earthjustice’s Northeast office (in New York City) is now accepting applications for a temporary office assistant for spring 2014. We are seeking candidates who can commit to 20 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
The Northeast office focuses principally on issues related to coal-fired power, shale gas development (fracking), and environmental health.
Responsibilities: The office assistant will work under the direct supervision of the office manager to provide administrative support for the Northeast Office staff, which may include:
- Updating and maintaining electronic files;
- Travel planning;
- Expense reimbursement;
- Online research;
- Tracking and ordering office supplies;
- Scheduling meetings;
- Assisting with mailings ; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior office assistant or similar experience preferred.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent research, communication and organizational skills.
- Initiative and creative thinking.
- Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
- Commitment to protecting the environment.
