Climate change is now widely accepted as the largest long-term environmental problem facing humanity and its major cause is carbon dioxide emissions from energy use. A not-for-profit organisation formed in 1992, we've rapidly become a leading figure in the fight to address climate change. Our aim is to promote sustainable energy, while reducing consumption and carbon emissions in the domestic and transport sectors throughout the UK.

Telephone Advisor, Energy Saving Trust advice centre (x3 vacancies)

Circa £16,000 depending on experience + excellent benefits

Fixed term until 31 March 2010, Cardiff

The Advisor roles form part of a team delivering effective and informative advice to householders, on energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste, water and transport.

The key responsibilities of the role will be to:

  • Provide advice in accordance with the standards set out in the Energy Saving Trust Operations Manual and other appropriate Quality Operating Procedures;
  • Meet the performance targets set by the Energy Saving Trust advice centre Manager;
  • Identify and highlight media and outreach promotion opportunities to the Energy Saving Trust advice centre Management Team
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent telephone and customer care skills and the ability to communicate difficult subject matters easily;
  • Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience of working in a customer focused organisation and the ability to engage with people at all levels;
  • An ability to multi-task, efficiently manage own workload,
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste, water and transport matters for householders (desirable);
  • Fluency in Welsh (desirable).

Please note, the successful candidate will be required to work shifts between the hours of 9.00am – 8.00pm.
