TECHNOLOGIST - ENERGY MANAGEMENT

$42, 671 to $46, 226

Summary of Function:

This position will focus on energy audits, energy management planning and retrofit implementation assistance for private sector stakeholders engaged in Toronto Region Conservation Authority's (TRCA) Partners in Project Green initiative.
As the Partners in Project Green Energy Management Technologist, you will support the delivery of Partners in Project Green's Eco-Efficiency Program by visiting external clients to educate them on their energy use and complete energy audits that identify both technical and operational opportunities to reduce their consumption.
You will assist clients in implementing energy conservation opportunities by educating them on the opportunities, developing business plans, completing incentive applications, and connecting them to product and service resources that encourage conservation.

Knowledge:

  • College diploma, university degree or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering, building sciences, sustainable energy or related discipline;
  • 1 to 3 years experience analyzing energy consumption of building systems and industrial processes;
  • Experience using energy metering instruments such as flow meters, light meters, power loggers, and temperature loggers;
  • Knowledge of project financial analysis, including simple payback, IRR and NPV;
  • Track record of successful implementation of projects, especially equipment retrofits;
  • Management skills needed to keep on schedule, communicate effectively, and maintain commitments to outcomes;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Excellent customer service, stakeholder or client relationship management skills;
  • Strong problem solving skills, collaborative and facilitation skills;
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and water conservation is considered an asset;
  • Strong MS Excel and Word skills required; and,
  • Knowledge of energy modeling software is considered an asset.

Example of Tasks:

Perform the following tasks under general supervision:
1. Complete energy audits of industrial and commercial facilities.  Meet with clients, identify conservation opportunities, analyze historical energy consumption data, complete business case analysis, and prepare client reports.
2. Provide exceptional customer service to clients, directing them to and assisting them with resources to drive the implementation of energy conservation opportunities. 
3. Complete financial incentive applications for energy conservation projects.
4. Assist in the delivery of energy management training sessions for industrial and commercial clients.
5. Provide support to TRCA in the implementation of its corporate energy management program.
6. Other duties as assigned.
