 The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia's tropical marine research agency with a mission to deliver world class research for the sustainable development, conservation, and management of tropical marine resources and environments.

The Institute has world-class laboratory facilities in Townsville Queensland, Perth Western Australia, and Darwin Northern Territory, two modern research vessels and extensive technical support.

Located at our Cape Ferguson Research Facility in Townsville, Queensland, the National Sea Simulator is a state-of-the-art experimental aquarium facility.  This new facility will support innovative research into coral reef ecology, coral spawning, water quality and climate change.

A new position has been created for a Technician to join our team in maintaining our life support systems to a high standard to support the experimental work being undertaken.

This role will assist with the cleaning, feeding and maintenance of the aquarium facilities including contributing to the plumbing and fit out of new and modified experimental systems.  

Applicants with previous experience in maintaining aquaria, and working in an aquaculture or research oriented environment are encouraged to apply.

Attractive working conditions apply including a remuneration package of $45,977 – $56,313 plus 15.4% superannuation, learning and development opportunities, generous leave entitlements, 9 day fortnight, commuter car transportation to site and many other benefits.  This opportunity will initially be offered for a fixed term period of three years.
