This is a position at the heart of our bird monitoring platform ‘Birdata’ helping our Citizen Scientists to provide data for conservation including our annual Aussie Backyard Bird Count.

This exciting new role administers the Birdata online platform and app, assisting staff of the Citizen Science Team and the wider Conservation and Science Department with data management and extraction.

This role requires a great understanding of website and database administration, statistical skills, a meticulous and thorough attitude to data management and the gift to communicate complex issues clearly and in an engaging way.

YOU WILL DO THIS THROUGH:

  • Administration of Birdata online platform and app
  • Management of data and quality assurance
  • Undertaking conservation data extractions and basic analysis
  • Commercial Data extractions
  • Improvement and development of Birdata modules
  • Supporting Aussie Backyard Bird Count
  • Promoting Birdata as a leading bird monitoring and conservation tool

STATUS AND REMUNERATION:

This is a part-time position four days per week (0.8 FTE), offered on a 3-year contract. This position is based at the BirdLife Australia’s National Office, Carlton, Melbourne.

Salary starting range (dependant on experience) $49,342 - $51,760 per annum (Pro rata of the full time equivalent) plus 10% Superannuation.

TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST:

  • Hold a relevant degree and/or demonstrated experience in Information Technology and data management
  • Have relevant experience in data management and statistical analysis
  • Basic understanding of bird identification, monitoring and ecology
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively
  • A positive outlook and ability to work collaboratively to achieve shared goals consistent with BirdLife Australia’s values
  • Have valid Australian work rights with permission to work
