Job Title: Technical Officer - Water Quality

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia's tropical marine research agency with a mission to deliver world class research for the sustainable development, conservation, and management of tropical marine resources and environments.

The Institute has world-class laboratory facilities in Townsville Queensland, Perth Western Australia, and Darwin Northern Territory, two modern research vessels and extensive technical support.

Located at our Cape Ferguson Research Facility in Townsville, Queensland, the National Sea Simulator is a state-of-the-art experimental aquarium facility.  This new facility will support innovative research into coral reef ecology, coral spawning, water quality and climate change.

A new role has been established for a Technical Officer with experience in water quality, including sampling, analysis and reporting of results to join our team.  This is a pivotal hands-on role that will assist in the development, operation and maintenance of the experimental systems within the Sea Simulator facilities.  As such, applicants with previous experience in the holding, propagation and breeding of marine organisms for use in research programs will be highly regarded. 

A working knowledge of good laboratory practices, the ability to maintain, operate and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and relevant tertiary qualifications in Science or a related field is essential.

Attractive working conditions apply including a remuneration package of $59,278 – $66,793 plus 15.4% superannuation, learning and development opportunities, generous leave entitlements, 9 day fortnight, commuter car transportation to site and many other benefits.  This opportunity will initially be offered for a fixed term period of three years.
