Role:

To provide technical expertise in Ecological Risk Assessment to support the development and registrations of new active ingredients and existing products in Europe. A strong understanding of ecology, ecotoxicology studies and assessing ecological risk, together with a current comprehensive knowledge of EU regulations are required. Ability to write assessments for EU registration dossiers and provide technical advice for regulatory use or to aid exploratory, development and business decisions.


Accountabilities

•Contributes to, and frequently has the sole responsibility for individual projects, so that they are properly specified, reviewed and delivered on time and meet customer needs.
•Manages assessments in order to deliver results along with an interpretation of the significance and consequences of those results, by liaising directly other with staff in PS (e.g. Senior Technical Experts and Tech. Consultants) as well as other functions such as regulatory affairs and business teams.
•May lead an internal team and/or manage work through Third Party teams
•Gives presentations at internal events and sometimes external to the company, to enable development and business decisions and regulatory submissions to be made.
•Has influence on the development of technical and techno-regulatory strategies and project work plans via involvement in multi-disciplinary project meetings.
•Seeks out latest developments in defined areas in ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessments and in consultation with senior technical experts assesses their potential use at the regulatory interface. Contributes to, and frequently has the sole responsibility for work programmes to ensure appropriate specification, peer review and delivery in order to meet customer needs

•Conducting ecological risk assessments and ecotoxicology studies.
•Interpreting study and assessment outputs, providing options for resolution of issues/further work including risk-benefit analyses
•Interaction and clear communication with project teams and other relevant stakeholders
•An understanding of environmental fate will be an advantage.

Requirements;

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

•A first degree in a relevant area of science, with either a higher degree or equivalent post-graduate experience (ca. 5 years) relating to ecology, Ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment.

Critical experience
•Experience of conducting ecological risk assessments and ecotoxicology studies
•Interpreting studies addressing the ecotoxicology of plant protection products
•Analysing complex data and making judgements on their potential impact

Salary Range : £32,000 - £42,000 pa depending on skills and expertise plus excellent benefits
