Description

An enthusiastic, dedicated, professional and responsible person is required to provide efficient and smooth-running editorial services to SANBI's Publication Section. Appointment requires a Degree with English as a major or post graduate qualification in biological field or portfolio of own publications coupled with 2-5 years relevant experience.

The successful candidate will be tasked with:
• Technical editing and proofreading of manuscripts in the biological field, electronically or on hard copy (language often needing extensive improvement).

• Incorporating corrections/changes to manuscripts.

• Liaising with team members (other editors, graphic designers, artists, Bookshop), authors, referees, printing houses .

• Obtaining quotes and seeing publications through the press

• Co-ordinating delivery of books from printers and handling invoices.

• Editorial advice on various other documents.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, you demonstrate the ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations and have an excellent spoken and written command of English as well as a passion for working with a diversity of people; you should not hesitate to apply. Knowledge of MS Office is essential. A valid Code B drivers licence with one year practical driving experience is essential.

SANBI offer an annual salary of R145 920 per annum and additional fringe benefits, which include attractive medical and pension schemes.
