Technical Director, Shanghai, China

My client is a global distributor of high quality mono and polycrystalline modules. They have established themselves as a key player in the solar PV market and are now looking to bring on a highly skilled and competent technical director for the to be based in Shanghai.

Position Overview:

My client is currently looking for a technical director to oversee the product development and testing of solar products such as modules, inverters connector boxes etc. This candidate will need to have both technical and commercial management aspects to their profile and will be reporting directly to the CEO and will be responsible for liaising with and developing new relationships with PV component suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the quality control procedures to ensure the quality of the product.
• Will be responsible for managing the activities of multiple department managers
• Provide partner PV component manufacturing facilities with advice on process optimization
• Team-building, staff supervision, management and coordination in accordance with company’s technical and product strategy
• Develop and implement R&D policies and new improved product designs
• Provide regular performance updates to the CEO
• Manage the day to day solar laboratory activities
• Lead internal PV research staff in projects for the development of existing and new solar technologies
• Organization of product application research mainly in photovoltaic systems in order to optimize customer technical support
• Partner with external bodies to strengthen the image of the company’s products

Education:

• ·         Must be educated to MSc level or higher in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Applied Materials or related field

Core Requirements:

• ·         2-3 years experience in solar PV product development
• ·         2-3 years experience in the development and driving forward solar business activities
• ·         A successful candidate will be flexible to travel internationally
• ·         Must have a track record in successfully leading teams in completing set tasks
• ·         Capable of taking on a leadership position and driving results
• ·         Must have a technical knowledge of the development of solar component technology

General Requirements:

• ·         Be willing to work in Shanghai
• ·         Be fluent in English, additional European languages are preferable
• ·         Must be passionate about the development of solar technology
• ·         Will ideally have working experience in China
