Description |
The Technical Coordinator will report to the Director of the INBAR Livelihoods and Economic Development Programme. Responsibilities 1. Work closely with IFAD loan projects and national partners in Ethiopia, Mozambique, Madagascar and Tanzania. 2. Manage National Project Coordinators in the above countries to ensure timely delivery of INBAR’s contractual responsibilities to IFAD, as well as INBAR-lead project activities
3. Oversee implementation of the Annual Workplan and Budget (AWPB) and report on progress against the AWPB, expected results and objectives to the Programme Director
4. Produce periodic results-based project reports and evaluation reports with respective IFAD project partners in English for IFAD and participate in annual meetings of the INBAR-IFAD Steering Committee.
5. Provide technical assistance on bamboo applications and products which would include the following: a) Fisheries-related bamboo applications (boats, drying sheds, other constructions, etc) b) School furniture, crafts, packaging, construction, laminated boards, slat-flooring, boats, charcoal c) Nursery and plantation development, soil erosion and watershed protection, degraded lands rehabilitation d) Use of bamboo for livestock fodder/chicken-feed applications
6. Work in tandem with INBAR/LED staff to fundraise and enhance the bamboo-led livelihoods programme in Eastern and Southern Africa region. Liaise with donors in the region 7. Represent INBAR in the Eastern and Southern Africa region and liaise with stakeholders in INBAR member countries as appropriate.
Requirements
1. Minimum Masters Degree in Natural or Social Sciences 2. Five years of field experience working in bamboo-based enterprise development, plantation establishment and environmental protection in rural areas in developing countries 3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 4. Proven fundraising abilities 5. Knowledge of French language preferred; non-French speakers might be asked to learn the language while appointed 6. Proficiency in use of computer applications – MS office; Acrobat and other associated applications
