BRE Global –Technical Consultant, BREEAM New Construction (non-domestic buildings)

BRE Global’s Sustainability Group is responsible for developing, maintaining and managing BREEAM, the world leading standard for the assessment and certification of buildings.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with 18 months plus post-graduate experience to help us deliver and grow BREEAM in the UK. We are seeking an individual who takes pride in their work and will use their proactive, can-do attitude to support the continuing growth of BREEAM UK. In turn you will be helping ensure our clients and their buildings are among the most sustainable in the world. 

Applicants for the role will be expected to demonstrate excellent customer services skills coupled with sound technical knowledge and understanding of the construction industry, buildings, sustainability and BREEAM.

The role will involve providing a range of technical services and support to our clients, including: 

  • On-going maintenance, delivery and growth of BREEAM, specifically for the new construction scheme.
  • Providing BREEAM related technical advice and support to BREEAM Assessors and the BREEAM certification, licensing and operations processes
  • Training BREEAM Assessors and contributing towards training course development
  • Contributing to the development of existing, bespoke and new BREEAM schemes
  • Reporting on the application and performance of BREEAM in the non-domestic sector
  • Supporting management and development of customer and stakeholder relationships in the public and private sectors
  • Planning and delivering relevant projects and tasks effectively and in accordance with the BRE Global Quality Management System and our UKAS accredited procedures and documentation. 

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following key skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • 18 month plus post-graduate experience in a construction/environmental related role.
  • A first or upper second class honours degree in architecture, building, building services, environmental engineering, energy, civil engineering, planning or equivalent experience.
  • Technical understanding of building design, construction and procurement, energy efficiency, sustainability and policy within the built environment
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills 

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Qualified BREEAM Assessor
  • Practical experience of carrying out BREEAM assessments to certification and BREEAM/Sustainability related consultancy on new build construction projects.
  • Awareness of the UK public and commercial sectors, in terms of building construction, sustainability and Government sustainability policy
  • Member of a relevant professional institute e.g. IEMA, CIOB, CIBSE, ISE
