TECHNICAL ASSISTANT - ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

Salary Range:
$12.24 per hour
Summary of Function:
Knowledge:
At least one year post secondary education in surveying, engineering technology, geology, or a related discipline;
Competent in the use of computers, and word processing software including database programs (MS Access);
Familiar with engineering terminology;
Knowledge of flood and erosion control structures an asset;
Experience in CAD and GIS applications;
Able to interpret maps;
Experience in the use of digital handheld devices including; digital cameras, and handheld GPS units an asset;
Small boat operating experience an asset;
Valid Class G driver's license mandatory.
Example of Tasks:
Conduct field inspections in support of the Erosion Monitoring and Maintenance Program for Flood and Erosion Control Structures, and the Erosion and Sediment Control Program;
Data entry and other administrative duties related to the program
This position is physically demanding and involves working outdoors on a daily basis, including in inclement weather.
Self-motivated individuals with strong time management skills would be best suited.
