We are seeking an experienced technical advisor to join our Science and Technical Group, specialising in marine species and threats. From July 2012, marine conservation science and technical advice across the Department will be provided by two national teams. This role will play a crucial part in establishing the teams and the subsequent development and implementation of relevant work programmes.

To be successful, you will be a leader and influencer, working with others to provide specialist technical advice in order to develop and refine the support systems that help us achieve our outcomes. You will have a passion for excellence and a strong customer focus, building and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and externally in order to achieve conservation goals. In return, you will have the opportunity to be involved with high-profile, challenging marine conservation programmes.

The ideal applicant will have proven business analysis experience, strong project/programme management skills and a tertiary qualification or experience in the fields of marine conservation or environmental management.

Experience in working with tangata whenua will be an advantage.
