Position:                      Technical Advisor for Eastern Plains Landscape Protected Areas

WWF, one of the world’s largest independent conservation organizations, has a global network active in more than 100 countries. As part of the WWF Greater Mekong Program (GMP), WWF Cambodia manages a wide array of conservation projects and seeks an experienced international candidate for the following challenging position:

Technical Advisor for Eastern Plains Landscape Protected Areas  

The Technical Advisor will work at the remote project site in eastern Cambodia, directly supervising planning, management, financial, and administrative aspects of Eastern Plains Protected Areas (EPPA). The Advisor will also liaise and provide technical advice to relevant Cambodian national and Mondulkiri provincial authorities, and other conservation partners. 

 Major Responsibilities:

§        Supervise implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between WWF and the Forestry Administration/Ministry of Environment, and the approved work plans and budget plans;

 §        Supervise all field based teams including patrol teams and mobile teams and lead the hiring or seconding of additional project staff;

§        Develop, manage, and maintain logistical and infrastructure development for Eastern Plains Protected Areas;

§        Design and manage ranger patrolling, enforcement, and monitoring systems;

§        Supervise, provide technical support and capacity building in PA management and law enforcement, assist in seeking synergies with community extension, and biological monitoring within all EPPA field project teams;

§        Supervise day-to-day financial management and reporting;

§        Assist in proposal development for EPPA, with support from Eastern Plains Landscape Manager, Country Director, Programme Manager, and the Ecoregion Coordinators;

§        Work with Eastern Plains Landscape Manager, Country Director, Program Manager, and Financial & Admin Manager to ensure technical and financial reports are submitted on time, and financial and admin procedures are followed;

  Qualifications: Knowledge and experience: An advanced university degree, and at least 5 years practical experience in PA management, conservation, natural resource management, or equivalent; 

Skills and abilities: Strong leadership skills; extensive protected area management skills; strong biological research and monitoring skills; ability to work independently in remote areas, networking, and communicating with government, NGOs, and local people; significant supervisory experience, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; problem solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills; exceptional written and oral communication skills in English; computer literate; good skills in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ArcView; Cambodia/SE Asia experience preferred. 

Duty Station: Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri Province, eastern Cambodia (Extensive time in the field required). Duration: 2 years extendable, depending on performance and funding.
