Job Description
The Joint Global Change Research Institute (JGCRI) has an internship opportunity for a student to work with our economics and climate change modeling and analysis team on topics such as energy technology, agriculture and biomass energy, and global carbon-cycle dynamics. This internship involves reviewing literature, analyzing data, and constructing data sets for use in our computer models of the global energy, economic, and climate systems. The intern will learn to use our modeling framework and will need to analyze model output data. This opportunity requires numerical analysis and research skills, writing skills, and good personal interaction skills. Background in economics, engineering, environmental science, or physical science is necessary. Available for current students only. Paid internship will continue through summer (contingent on performance). Located at the new M-Square Facility off of River Rd. Please attach a cover letter to your resume. Note that our preferred candidates are from local universities who can work through the summer and part time during the school year.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5. All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have solid quantitative skills, such as gained from academic background in physical science, engineering, or economics.
