Salary: £15,960 - £17,304

The Role

As an Operations Field Team Member you'll perform a front line role responding to emergency response incidents. 

The primary role of a Team Member 1 is to effectively deliver an emergency response capability for floods and environmental incidents. This involves the effective operation of assets and equipment in response to flood or environmental incidents in order to minimise the impact on people and property. You’ll be required to take part in a standby rota to ensure an effective response during out of hours incidents.

The role also involves the preparation of construction phase plans to support a range of routine and project based activities including; earthworks, construction work, grass cutting, chainsaw / tree works and dredging. The post will involve a mix of site and office based activities to assist with the operation of Short Ferry depot.

The Team

Our Operations Team plan, organise and deliver an annual programme of work and responds to flood and pollution incidents as they occur.

Our work is carried out in an efficient, effective, safe and environmentally friendly manner, we react to emergency events whilst keeping up-to-date with a planned programme of works.

Working within the Operations Delivery Field Team in Lincolnshire the post will be based at our Short Ferry Depot.

Experience/skills required

For all posts a full driving licence is required as the successful applicant will need to travel to an agreed pick up point and may be required to drive Agency vehicles in the course of their working day.

• Field based work experience is required i.e. heavy plant driving, construction skills, tree work (chainsaw) operations and the use of powered hand tools.

• Experience of out of hours working and standby rota working would be an advantage.

• Good communication skills and public awareness required.

• Experience of health and safety risk management and environmental awareness would be a strong advantage.

• Competency with computer packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel and general electronic communications.
