Salary £24,530 - £27,370

The role

We are looking for a skilled electrical craftsmen to assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of our assets attached to the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer scheme. Working with 5 other team members, both electrical and mechanical, the role will provide maintenance, inspection and repair activities on the schemes electrical assets, both within Low and High Voltage environments. In addition the role will report back maintenance activities undertaken and any issues arising using the inhouse maintenance management system. There will also be some involvement in the delivery of local electrical projects.

The team

The Water Resources Operations and Hydrology - Eastern Area team leads in the operation and maintenance of the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer scheme, a large water transfer scheme, transferring water from Denver to the Rivers Stour and Blackwater, using a combination of pumping stations, pipelines and in river transfer.

Experience/skills required

Ideally, you’ll live within 30 miles of Kennett, Newmarket, on the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk border and will be qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent, in an electrical discipline with Industrial electrical experience within the industrial sector.

Other Key requirements for the job include excellent IT skills and good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both within a team and alone without supervision. A full driving licence is essential as the role will be required to travel through out Norfolk and Suffolk to fulfil its duties, for which a badged vehicle will be provided.

Previous experience in the inspection, maintenance and repair of both High / Low Voltage equipment and the operation and maintenance of both submersible and surface mounted pumps would prove advantageous. 

Additional useful information

The role will be based at Kennett Pumping Station. The role will be required to participate in a standby rota and be available for call out as and when the situation arises.
