The Institute operates from facilities in Townsville Queensland, Darwin Northern Territory and Perth Western Australia.

About this Opportunity

With an initial focus on the Great Barrier Reef you will lead a team to develop and implement integrated monitoring, reporting and analysis projects.   

Your focus will be on:

  • Continuous improvement of sampling protocols to increase efficiency, reduce data uncertainty and enhance representation of the ecosystem;
  • The development of innovative methods for data and program integration;
  • Engaging with key stakeholders to ensure transfer of knowledge; and
  • Maintaining an awareness of emerging ecosystem health indicators and autonomous environmental monitoring techniques and testing, implementation and integration of promising tools.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a world leading organisation with attractive working conditions including a 9-day fortnight, generous leave entitlements, transportation to site, a salary range of $112,811 - $144,424 and 15.4% superannuation.  This role is being offered for a minimum 5 year term and will be based in Townsville, Queensland.

 

About You

You will have a PhD in marine science with significant postdoctoral professional experience together with:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading marine monitoring programs;
  • High-level quantitative skills;
  • The ability to engage and actively collaborate with a wide range of key stakeholders; and
  • Regional and global knowledge of environmental issues facing tropical marine ecosystems.
