Climate change and wildlife conservation expert – Team leader

Input : 45 days over 7 months

Starting date : October 2014

Profile :

Experience in the development of sectoral climate change adaptation strategies, as well as in conducting climate change vulnerability assessments and participatory and consultative processes. He/she should demonstrate good knowledge of wildlife and conservation aspects, including the impacts of climate change on biodiversity and wildlife.

The profile of candidates will be based on the following criteria:

? Relevant academic background, preferably a postgraduate degree in Natural Resource

Management, Wildlife Management, Ecology, Environmental Science or any other

related field.

? Over 10 years of experience working on Natural Resources, wildlife /climate related

areas.

? Demonstrated experience in developing climate change adaptation strategies.

? Demonstrated knowledge of climate change adaptation with a focus on the biodiversity

and wildlife sectors, and good understanding of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.

? Experience in policy development processes associated with environment, climate change

and sustainable development.

? Knowledge and understanding of the UNFCCC requirements.

? Demonstrated experience in project development, implementation or management.

? Proven experience in dealing with national governments.

? Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

? High proficiency in spoken and written English. Fluency in French is an added

advantage.

? Availability to conduct this assignment within short delays.

? Working experience in Kenya and good knowledge of East African wildlife conservation

issues.
