Job Purpose
1. To teach and supervise at undergraduate and postgraduate level in line with the School’s teaching and the Doctoral Training Centre programmes; to participate in the School’s overall contribution to the University.
2. To assist with and undertake Research in the area of Hydrogen and Fuel Cell (when required).
3. To engage with Industry and generate industrial income.
Person Specification
Essential: -

• Postgraduate qualification in Chemical Engineering.
• Previous experience in the general area of applied bioscience and biotechnology - the specific area of expertise could be in any aspect of biotechnology but knowledge and expertise in either biofuel cells, Direct Alcohol Fuel Cell, Electrocatalysis or metal recovery would be particularly appropriate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work with colleagues
• Ability to work independently and work to tight deadlines
• Excellent organisational and negotiation skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems
• Currently and demonstrably active in research in an area compatible with the research groups in the Centre for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research
• Ability to provide tutorial and counselling advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students

Desirable: -

• Some experience of undergraduate teaching (e.g. laboratory demonstrating, tutorials, workshops)
• Some experience of supervising postgraduate at Masters and Doctoral levels.
• Experience of teaching and assessment in Engineering / Science at BEng / MEng / MSc
• Ability to develop an original research programme on your own initiative in the area of Bio-Fuel Cells, Electrocatalysis and Direct Alcohol Fuel Cells
