Description

The System Performance Engineer functionally reports to a Senior Performance and Prediction Engineer, and is part of a dynamic cross functional team representing sales, marketing, product development, customer care, and applications engineering. He/she assists in the collection and analysis of test and field data for the purpose of characterizing and predicting the performance of Solaria products.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and documents procedures and methods for collecting and analyzing test data.
  • Creates and maintains specialized computer simulation software to model the energy output of Solaria products in installed system scenarios.
  • Analyzes the long-term energy performance of installed Solaria products, and performs targeted field and lab tests to characterize the performance of both new and existing technologies.
  • Develops and executes research, analysis and test plans.
  • Develops, tests, and validates analytical and engineering meteorological models.
  • Characterizes system performance using remotely-acquired energy and meteorological data.
  • Communicates key results of research in a timely and effective manner to team and other stakeholders through memos, reports and presentations.
  • Supports product development, sales, marketing, and applications engineering departments on system performance-related initiatives.
  • Prepares reports and presentations to communicate analysis findings, research plans, or plans for product development efforts.
  • Responds to requests for information from customers and other departments on short notice.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field + 5 years relevant experience, or Masters + 3 years.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • 2+ years performance analysis experience.
  • Strong familiarity with solar energy technology and systems.
  • Familiarity with global solar resource databases: NSRDB, MeteoStat, MeteoClim, MeteoNorm, solar prospector, etc.
  • Excellent and proven analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Familiarity with object oriented programming (Java, vb.net), and database system and SQL query language is a plus.
  • Passion for solar is a plus.
