Purpose of the jobTo develop, maintain, administer and support the computer systems of the Greenpeace India office in order to provide end user with a working, reliable, standardized and sustainable IT environment. Cooperate with the Greenpeace International ICT department in order to support the use of global shared systems and pursue implementation of global standards. Main responsibilitiesMaintain the local network and systems and the connection with the global network, including version and security updates and corrective actions, in order to guarantee availability and performance. Responsible for complete Information Security management including training of staff, computer and network security, physical and environmental security, information asset security etc. Monitor network and systems in order to provide insight in performance, signal problems and upgrade needs. Act as the first point of contact for the users regarding the use of the information systems. Make sure their requests are fulfilled quickly, if necessary in conjunction with the system administrators. Maintain necessary accounting lists and/or other information related to the information systems in order to optimise the security and maintainability of the information systems. Deploy desktop hardware and software in order for end users to use them for their work. Cooperate with the Greenpeace International ICT department in order to support the use of global shared systems and pursue implementation of global standards. Documentation of systems, projects and procedures in order to structure working processes and preserve knowledge.
Skills/Qualifications required B.Sc. or University degree relevant to Systems and Network engineering (e.g. Computer Science, Electronics) and/or comparable work experience/certification. Hands-on system administration experience in a small size organization (20-100 users). Excellent knowledge of Linux and Windows, TCP/IP networks, LDAP, Samba, e-mail etc. 2 years' hands-on experience with network administration, performance and security. Good working knowledge of firewalls, (SSL)VPN, routers, switches and IP telephony (Asterisk). Experience in providing end user support. Problem solving skills and good approach to end-users. Ability to explain technical issues to users in understandable language. Fluent in English, both verbal and written and the language standard for the local office.
