Description

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organization, seeks a seasoned and creative Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications to lead and develop a proactive strategy to position the organization as the leading force in the conservation movement. This executive will provide leadership in the creation, implementation and measurement of major comprehensive communication initiatives that define and promote WWF's accomplishments around the world. S/he will develop a global strategic thought leadership platform and play a significant role in enhancing and protecting WWF's image and position in the marketplace and among the general public. The Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications will serve as the chief spokesperson, responsible for development and maintaining relationships of trust and respect between the organization and the media. Working closely with the CEO, this person will act as counsel and advisor to the senior leadership to fully leverage the CEO and executive team’s visibility across targeted audiences as well as provide the execution support to drive integration and message consistency.

The ideal candidate will have these qualities:

• A minimum of 15 years of experience with a history of broad and extensive exposure to a variety of communications functions; demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies that incorporate specifically targeted and multi-faceted messages within a consistent overall theme • Demonstrated ability to translate visionary ideas into functioning, sustainable programs and initiatives; bias for strategic proactive communication program development and clear results • The belief that people are the key to successful strategies, and the ability to strategically engage people from the grassroots to the grass tops through all types of media outlets • Experience with the latest electronic tools, technologies and marketing cutting-edge practices to promote advocacy initiatives, ideas and values • Demonstrated team building experience; a track record of effective management of professionals; significant experience recruiting, managing, developing, and inspiring staff to achieve institutional goals and to maintain standards of excellence • Solid experience in business planning, administration, financial management, and budgeting; a record of fiscal responsibility and consistency in meeting targets and working within budgets
